Abstract Infinite impulse response (IIR) filter system recognition is a serious issue nowadays as it has many applications on diversity of platforms. The whale optimization algorithm (WOA) novel nature-motivated population-based meta-heuristic where the hunting techniques humpback whales are implemented to solve problems. But main disadvantage WOA its stagnant convergence rate. As population based, initialization process very important in finding best result and enhance In this paper, chaotic oppositional-based nominated before start conventional improve performance. To effectively cover entire search region, chaotic-based logistic map consists both actual numbers corresponding opposite incorporated into opposition-based process. When checked out with some classic model examples, simulation performance authorizes (COWOA) more convenient contender compared other evolutionary terms accuracy speed. Convergence profile mean square error specifications that needed inspect our recommended algorithm.
